Vanuatu is a string of 83 individual lush green islands some 800km west of Fiji, 2,450 km northeast of Sydney and home to a population of ~206,000 inhabitants.
From the massive volcanic cones covered in dense, lush tropical rainforest to beautiful sandy unspoiled beaches, Vanuatu has a wide range of interesting places to explore and the coral islands and atolls are simply some of the best in the Pacific.
Vanuatu fishes all year round, however the ideal times are March through November as this is the time when the weather and water conditions are usually optimal. Species that are targeted and frequently caught in the area include blue marlin, black marlin, sailfish, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi , wahoo, spanish mackerel, sailfish, dogtooth tuna, coral trout, job fish and red bass. Yellowfin and dog tooth tuna can be huge. Dogtooth up to around 80kg and yellowfin to 100kg, while rare, are quite possible and the blue marlin record stands at a very respectable 515kg or 1,135 old-fashioned pounds!
