Telecaster wrote:I don't really report much, but lately I have been out most weekends off the north side of the peninsula, catching fat pannies on 40-80g kaveman kaburas. A lot of the fish are spitting up bits of crab and mantis shrimp, so I think the kabura is a good match. Interestingly, I have tried ledger rigs with pilly chunks and fresh jack mackerel alongside the kabura, and the bait rigs are not even close to catching as many. Nothing massive, average is mid to late 30 range, with the odd one up over 50cm. Excellent condition though, and makes for a cheap day out. Got 7 snapper and 2 nice gurnard this afternoon. A bit of breeze seems to help although it was pretty snotty out there today, and a rough ride home. |

14-17m - colour doesn't seem to matter much, yesterday I was using an orange 40g head with a yellow skirt on my main rod, and a pink/lumo 80g head with yellow skirt on Rodney's rod. |

Tried for a snap on the edge of tiri channel but dead quiet. Shot back in towards Waiwera and started drifting in about 17m with yellow sliders, 14 snaps kept by 3pm. Nothing over 50cm but all in great condition. |
