Have read a lot of good things about JB hollow overseas, but has anyone used the solid for casting or jigging. I see they use multicolour, in yards thou.

Is there any advantage for the hollow other than splicing? Is it the fact that hollow packs down so is actually labelled size is more so the standard thichkness as it breaks well above such, and the solid is a lot closer to actual breaking strain?
The solid seems to be cheaper. Is the solid a standard 8 carrier dyneema weave as I see the hollow is 12 I think?

Not going to be splicing as I just want a full spool on a stella 8000 and can't decide whether I should buy solid or hollow for casting. Thinking 40 or 60 if hollow is the way or perhaps 50 if I was to go solid. Does anyone know how much line would go on the 8000?

Do you think actually need that much line for stickbaiting, was thinking you might get away with a heavier line as you might not be using as much.

Any enlightenment on the 100 Qs appreciated. Cheers

this link gives all Stella spools capabilities for JB hollow, JB solid is a little less(hollow packs tighter than solid)

So a bit of a how long is a piece of string question but do you think 200m would be enough string on your reel for fishing most shallower regions around NZ for kingfish on popper/stickbait?
