Has anyone got any info on winter Albies around Mayor/Aldermans? I have herd of guys getting big albies out of TGA last year during winter but it seems to be a slim few out chasing them?

Dave, I was talking to Mark Armstead (Extreme Sportfishing Charters) the other day and he had heard of somebody seeing some on the Penguin Rises a couple of weeks ago, although none were caught.

Got a couple of albies off the Cavalli seamount Sat night. Water was 14d. No skippies. Got a heap of skippies off Queens bouy couple weeks back.

Anyone heard much on the Swords? We have done a few nights lately but not a bite. Went out to 1000m Sat night, Fu*ken froze

It looks like the albies are around from what people are saying but are they the small coke bottle size models?
Do we need to wait another few weeks for the big 15k+ models to turn up or are they around too?
Looking at heading down in the next few weeks and having a crack behind mayor as well on 4-10kg outfits

People say if fishing was easy then it would be called catching, I say these people who say that obviously had a bad day's fishing.

Research done by Niwi for the albacore troll fishery showed

best day length 9-11hrs then tapering of, then increasing again with day lengths of between 13-15hrs.

wont be long now, I will be going out for a look at the 60mile grounds and see what's about, from the talk in the club the 500m line would be well worth the effort.
Seems the coms boys are doing rather well

I was with woody and saw these.  Pretty certain they were albies and they were moving hell fast.

Ive just been down at Sandfords Tauranga and they had some 15kg+ Albies in their display. Talking to the one guys out the back they apparently have caught heaps of that size in the last few days between Mayor and White so it may well be worth a look out the knolls this weekend with a mint forecast.
