I must've posted about 100 topics on different kayaks and i was damn sure that i was going to be getting the profish 400 but now with the new prowler 4.3 out i'm not sure. I know that the 4.3 isn't out yet but from those who went to the boat show or may have even tried out the prototype what do you think of it in relation to the profish 400. I want to make the most informed decision as with uni and all $1700 or $2150 is serious money for a poor student and i don't want to have any regrets.

I understand the need for researching before you buy. But I see you have been enquiring about yaks since at least December 2010

The 440,400 and I would guess the 4.3 will all provide a great fishing platform. Guys used to paddle logs and still get decent fish. The fishability of kayaks has increased so much in the years I've been fishing and most of the manufacturers have their heads screwed on right. Although, there are still some exceptions which make you wonder "what the heck?"

So get out there, try them all out, buy one that suits you, and come back with some awesome fishing reports with lots of pictures

 

I was in the same boat as you mate , had my heart dead set on the 400 and that was going to be my next kayak . Then i heard about the 4.3 and decided to wait and see . Im glad i did to .

I was supposed to have a test paddle of the 4.3 but got back from a fishing trip to late so missed out .

I can still try it out but dont have to .

I know 2 mates who both paddle the 4.7 and they both say the 4.3 is very very fast and quicker to get moving than the 4.7 .

For me the 4.3 has some quality features and in my opinion is one of the best kayak fishing platforms going around .

Ill be paddling one sooner rather than later .

As the other guys have said if these are the 2 yaks you have narrowed it down to then go for a paddle in both before you make your mind up .

 and im not disapointed
