You couldnt ask for a calmer sea state than we had today. Launched at Gentlemens' hours (due to low tide at 8am) and headed out to target some gurnard in the Auckland East Coast bays. Fishing buddy for the day was Keith C, who made the trip up from the "Naki to sample his old stomping grounds. Day looked like this:



Shortly after we started fishing a few porpoises showed up (no pic) and looked to be feeding nearby so we shifted a bit, put the burley down, and deployed various rigs to entice whatever might be around:



 Well, guess what started showing up?:



Several hours later we had 11 gurnard in the bin as well as a few snapper:



Thanks for a great day once again Keith and hope you travel safely back to Taranaki.

But we have to ask the question....

Are you fishing in the right place Smudge?

Nice work MJ & Keith. What are those red fish? They look like gurnard but smaller Big smile

Hehe nice work, they aren't too shabby at all. What a beautiful day. I haven't fished the east side in many years
Best gurnard fisherman in my street
