the silly thing is that do they really need protecting? in this day and age there are v few people that target them commercially or recreationally... while I agree with the theory and the principle of looking after these great creatures surely the pols would have been better to spend the same money and time trying to protect or look after something like bluefin, yellowfin, marlin etc etc, i.e something that is under commercial pressure? however I suppose it was an "easy win" for Carter as there are few who would disagree and lobby against it, Im not being churlish but I am a tad cynical about the whole thing....
