Just got me some new toys from Gourocks, new colours in the R2C Doggies, in preparation for going to the Sollies in a couple of weeks.... they look very yummy! :-)

the pic doesn't show it that well, the bottom is a mirror-shiny chrome. The gold one looks very sexy to me, just the colour of a lot of the schools of trevs and buma up in the islands. Should be fun trying them out anyhow! ;-)

I like the doggies, caught plenty of kings on them, they are cheap and work pretty well, don't like the rover either really, either that or I can't use it right.

New colours.... I thought I had made that apparent.
"Just got me some new toys from Gourocks, new colours in the R2C Doggies,"

The gold one looks very nice to my eye (actually they all do), although I suspect that the top one pictured there might be my favourite, don't know why, it just speaks to me.... :-)

The older pics and colours, ummm... let's see if I have an old pic here somewhere....

and, ummm....,

So as you can see, the new colours are... well... new! :-)
cheers mate,
Stu.

Done very well with the R2C's, change the hooks out though if you gear has reasonable drag as they do break the hooks

Really, trouble with the hooks? That surprises me, they are owners. Still, surface lures are very hard on terminal tackle, so I shouldn't really be surprised I guess.

i already use them on the islands.I do not have lots of experience with stickbaits but found that this doggies is spinning if retrieving to fast.I slow down and they start to perform but i think that its to slow. The spinning just p@ssed me off and i change back to poppers. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong.

Are you straight retrieving them or doing a bit of rod work as well?

Those are a sinking stickbait. They should run just below the surface (or deeper if you wait a bit), try a rod sweep and then a wind up with the bait under the surface until you feel the waggle.

Will behave like poos, with a fast retrieve across the surface, if that what you are doin.

I have used the rover 230 a lot and they dont work well with your standard "sweep and wind technique" In fact they swim poo like that....I just do short stabs with the rod and they walk the dog very nicely! Try different actions with them...."sweep and wind" is not the only technique for stick baiting! Some have rattles and some dont.Experiment.Wink
