I had a walk + rods there a couple of weeks ago.
You can't walk from the wharf side around, it bluffs out pretty quickly.
Drive to the end of the road and walk up the 4WD track to the monument, from there there are a whole heap of tracks all over the headland - mostly possum trapper/pig hunters tracks that won't get you to the water. As a side note, they had just done a baiting set when I was there. Heaps of blue paper envelopes stapled to trees, must've been cyanide as the dead possums were at the bottom of the tree with the bait on it. Heaps of them too, 10+ on my 2 hour walk.
There are a couple of tracks off the ridge that head west that'll take you to the western shore of the peninsula. Destruction gully sort of coastline once you're down there - a low tide walk to the tip would be possible but you'd be cut off and I don't know if there are any decent ledges, but this point appears in the spotx book so I'd imagine there's something there.
There is a whole heap of current that whips around the point, and there were a couple of boats sitting in it. Don't know much about the fishing as I headed in at midday and spend the whole afternoon working out how to get down, got there, fished for 30mins no luck and retreated with dusk setting in. Neat place to explore though.
