Hello,

I am soft bait fishing from a kayak and I want to try, while I’m actively soft baiting, to have a slow jig going in a rod holder. And also to slowly tow it around while I’m heading to my spots.

I like having two rods going but the one in the holder, usually with another soft bait on, doesn’t tend to hook fish.

I can’t afford a jig rod at the moment so it would just be on one of my soft bait rods. I was thinking one of the 40g inchiku jigs. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Cheers!

If there's fish to be caught, that will work, 100% Smile

I regularly use 100g jigs on a softbait rod, so don't worry about it. A different proposition dropping a jig vertically versus casting.

Nice, I might go for the 80g one then!

Weight obviously depends on depth of water and drift speed, but the smaller the better as long as you can keep it just off the bottom.

80g might be overkill. I’m in shallow water, never more than 20m.

I would try a 15 to 20gram micro jig
