Going to try fishing in auckland for the first time!!!

There is a stiff easterly flow going on for the next couple of days which could make the drift difficult - got a big drougue? Maybe further up the Rangi Channel you can pick up some shelter from Rangi. My prime recommendation would be to head over to Waiheke and drift from Matiatia Bay down in around 17 - 19m (look for the sign). You will get good shelter from the wind. Once you have been pushed too far out from Waiheke then motor back in again. Top soft bait fishing with nearly all snapper but a few trevs and kings around as well. Only issue that it could be an uncomfortable beat over there against the wind so if also looking for comfort then go the Rangi way.
