If that Stella is $ 390 than its a very very good deal, perfect for stick baiting, over kill for stray lining.

For me it would be the Twinpowers above the Talisman, followed lastly by the Okuma. You should have put a Fin Nor offshore in the list so you can "keep up with the "Jones-es  Spencers"

Here is a radical idea....a penn spin fisher 5500, 6500 or 7500, whichever. Robust, simple, anti reverse, air bale, great drag and well within your budget.
In fact, probably get two and be close to your budget, one smaller , one larger, one for 30lb, one for 50lb.
It is only my overwhelming natural humility that mars my perfection.

I have brought a 7500,( about 18 months ago) they are an OK reel, but certainly nothing on the ones that where made in America. The newer ones made in China sadly lack a bit of the robustness that the older ones where known for. After buying a new line roller set ( original one flew apart) I gave it to a kid on the wharf. At only $99 AUD they are cheap...........

Agreed with this one but the Okuma Salina 2 16000S is a great option too.

Sustain 10,000 from Gofish still my pick.
Have fished a twin power 4000 as my go to softbait reel for last 6 years -good reel but clicker kept blowing to point we didn't replace. Still use it though.  Had a few goes with stellas, personally don't think they justify price.... can't see difference with other shimano good reels.
Got a few old style penn spinfisher  for landbased and boat straylining, will keep using on rocks - 650ss for 6-8kg and 850ss -10-15kg nylon -they are brillant reels given their age.  Quality never dies -Penns out-lasted their shimano counterparts with ease.

I'm very surprised the Saragosa SW has not been mentioned. A very capable reel and a middle of the road price point.

Problem with this reel Kezza is it doesnt hold much line spec says it capicity is 50yds of 360lb Powerpro Ermm even better the Speheros SW 20000 holds 80yds of 400lb powerproThumbs Up
Didnt knw you could get powerpro in the weight, reel must be very very robust to handle thisBig smile

Seriously though I think someone at Shimano should check some of the spec info in the website as there are a few typo errors.

How would a Quantum Boca 60 baitrunner type  stand up to this style of fishing.

Thunnus 8000 would be my choice, has the baitrunner function and would be fine for topwater, in fact shimano market it as topwater as well. 10Kg drag and should have sufficient capacity I would think. I've used my sustain 4000 for light stickbaiting and it has more than enough capacity, although a higher drag than the thunnus 8000.

I also use the sustain for straylining but it's a pain having to disengage the anti-reverse or free hand the spool - I intend to buy a thunnus for this purpose purely because it has the baitrunner feature.

I would advise not buying somthing without a similar feature if you will use it for straylining regularly.

I've been looking for an entry level reel myself have decided on a Fin Nor Lethal 100. Check out Alan Hawk's review on it pretty impressive. Half the price of your budget as well

Like others have said - if you have straylining in mind as well the thunnus ci4 is a great option. I haven't actually fished mine with bait at all yet but it has thrown a hell of a lot of lures... 8000 size would match your rod perfectly (difference between 6000 and 8000 size with shimano's is only spool depth, so you might as well go for the one with more line capacity ay...)

7/10 Shimano Stella 10,000HG with some scratches = 390

9/10 Shimano Twinpower 8000PG Great Condition = 360

9/10 Shimano Twinpower 8000HG Great Condition = 390

Brand New Tica Talisman TG8000 = 340

Brand New Ok,uma Salina ii 16000a = 200

not the PG, too slow for topwater. Stella & Twinpower are very sharp prices.Twinpower 8000HG would be my pick depending on how beat up the Stella is. 7/10 could mean anything.
