Very common, main reason why they break off is because the bushes on either side that the through pin runs into get tight on the through pin so it can’t rotate and snaps the trilobe pin off

I had the same problem couple of months back and replaced the bushes prompt parts have them as well, at the same time. Not a big job just punch the old bushes out with a socket, just don’t grease or oil the bushes just apply some grease to the through pin. Make sure you drive the trilobe pin well or it will fall out again.

Good time to check the back of the trim motor housing, prone to rusting, I coated mine with lanolin grease.

Kandrew is there a secret to knocking the pin in??  Got tube out,seems easy enough to put in with new bushes.

Probaly the original 20 yrs old,dont last forever,think its 180hrs now,put on 75hrs in 18 months so plenty of life left..

Yes not the best design Ive seen merc come up with, my trim gauge was stuck hard up. They just fall out often as well. But check that trim motor end cap, they rust out all the time. Water gets in and hello no trim and tilt. I’m will need to take mine off next year and give it a anti rust treatment. They hold the permanent magnets so they are made out of mild steel.

trim motor gets a regular spray with a water repellent CRC product.No rust so might be working?

4 left in stock at promt parts,The guy said they have a habit of falling out,suggested as temp fix threaded bolt n nut.  Got it in ,no new bushes as non in stock.
