Hi.
 
Any thoughts on the Starlo Stix 5-10kg long butt rod. Have ordered one.

Yup good rod, good price great action..although they for some reason don't like being point loaded EmbarrassedOuch but if you are careful (unlike I was) they will see you right.

What is the reel your going to bolt on it Naki ?

How do you reckon it would go with an Okuma VS-30 Moocha? I've got one on order and want to pair it with a VS-30 in about a months time...

Whoops I misread it Appoligies Naki I have the 5--8kg but its a 7ft  (minus the original top 6inches and a 3 piece for a very short time Ouch) I reckon the VS30 would go minta on either RA (did you order the 5-10kg)

Not sure if it is 5-10 or 5-8kg but it is certaintly 2pc with a long butt. Hope it is a 5-8kg.

What ever I can catch on it. Snapper, Gurnard & will use it for Nationals Lite Line.

At this stage I will put a cheap Abu on until I decide on a better reel. Probably a VS30, Sustain or simillar. Have loaded the Abu with 14lb Fireline

Symetre 2500 could be worth a look Naki.

I had a TP4000 on mine with 6lb fireline landed some good fish lost some even better ones and the 6lb was still going strong (most bust offs were at the trace or hook) the 6lb can break close to 20lb I believe which is why I chose it for the 5-8kg rod (mind you I still busted it).

I wish the good people at Shimano would bring in more of their Starlo Stix range. Especially the ones designed for use with overhead reelsTongue

I've got a Starlo Stix Squidgy Snapper Spin, it looks beautiful, but I don't know sh#t. It was recomended to me by someone that knows their stuff. I'll be trying it out on the SP Charter with Tiny.Big%20smile

i've got the squidgy spin H, its a two piece 4-8kg 7 footer naki. FA-SQ.

grunty little rod. i've heard they explode if you even look at them wrongShocked but bought one anyways.

 biggest fish so far would be only about 3 pounds. but had a couple on that took heaps of line and then dropped the bait, 20 pounders for sure!

 and hooked the bottom once, rod handle it no worries.

I have one of the Starlo 5-8kg two piece rods as well first soft plastic rod I bought. Like it a lot still, even though have others now, but have to say I have also lost the top section off this rod as well. Through a comical casting accident, at least other people on the boat with me were laughing......
 
Be very careful with the top 6 inches!

Sweet managed to track down a Starlo Mid stream?, 2 piece, 4-8kilo pisto; grip for over head reels. Should be the bees knee's with the new Calcuttta TE

Saw the full range in a shop on the goldcoast this week,the one i couldnt get my head around was the acid wrapped 2 piece starlo stix.Bloody stupid thing hard to line it up properly as their was no marks.One shop i was in had over 1000 s/b rods ranging from $30 to $700..Awesome ...The starlo stix were $98 aus,twin power 4ooo $320 symetre 4000 $120 T curve blue water 4 to 8 kg $199.. nice ...gulps $12... fireline down as low as $19.95..and the daiwa luna $300

Moocha heard from a reliable source that Shimano distributors are going to be bringing 2 models of overhead pistol grip Starlos in to the country I've got one on order. Arrives next month. Still none of the spiral wrapped ones. Spoke to one of the Shim reps and he said that they reckon us Kiwi's cant cast overhead reels and this is why they have only been bringing in the Spin Starlo'sAngry

Of2fish I would never have left that shop. Would have had to have been surgically removedLOL
