A warm Welcome to the area Big Kev!!!

Tuatua and pipi used to be prolific in the whole of Bream Bay!!! Not so many now. If you want pipi, try the bank on the Eastern side of the wharves, on the Eastern side of the refinery. Tuatua used to be back further along Uretiti Beach. You need to try with your feet along there, watch out for paddle crabs though!!! After a storm, scallops can be picked up along the beach at Uretiti, you gotta get there quick and know the rules!!!
If you are on the other side of the harbour, along the straight near the golf course, cockles are there but you gots to look hard.
Kia ORA!!!

If you go to the road next to the refinery, just walk out into the surf at low tide for tua tua, they don't seem as big as they used to be, but that goes for a lot of things
slowly going where everyone else has already been

Hey Big Kev, I am married to a Jones... So were probably related!!!  Not sure where Tonto 2 means, the road next to the refinery might be the one on the right, on the corner, just before you get there, that road takes you to a posse, just inside the Northern end of Bream Bay, might be a few there, I don't know from personal experience. As I say, the fishery has been depleted over the years by people taking too much, so have a good look round, try anywhere you can, you might be lucky!!!
Cheers.

Hey Kev, Turn off at Mair rd, it's the rd on the right just before the refinery.park in the car park at the end. Head left along the beach till you get to a small stream, 200 mtrs or so. Have a look around there. You will need wade out till you come back up on to a sand bank. Try all around there, tua tua been moving around a lot , hard all summer to get on to them. How have you been getting on with your surf casting since you got up here ?. Or are you like me been tied to work for last month.

Tuatua are usually in the general area SwishFish says.
Cockles were in the Ruakaka river where the campground meets the river front.
Pipi are on Mair bank, there was a rāhui on collecting them from the mainland (the point) for some time, dunno if this is still in effect.

The stream SwishFish mentioned was a runoff from the refinery cooling system and has been shut down for a while now. the outlet is still there and easy to find though.
