For snaps and kahawai I use 6lb braid on 2500 size reel and 4kg rods. I have a accurate bx400xn with a jigging master power spell 100g pe 1-3 and find that overkill for most snaps but the biggest. But great fun on kings

Yeah, you have a point there mate. I think I may need to have another combo or rod for snaps and KY and just use the stella with a JM then save up for the stick bait rod.

Yeah, once I get the rod I'll need to start looking for a charter boat to go out on so I can attempt to get my first Kingfish! Any suggestions on which charter? I'm based in Tauranga.
