It is an impressive rod for the $. We were throwing our Aotealures with it on the last couple of trips with Tony. Around 110 grams and it cast beaut.
Keeza. I would like to try it with the Saragossa 10000. What is the retrieve per crank compared to the stella 14000?

Out of curiosity and for future reference, what is the drag rating for the topwater? I'm guessing 9-10kg is safe?Embarrassed

Hiya

Am off to white Island on Cascade in a few weeks chasing Kings. Was thinking about one of these rods to chuck around a few stick baits out there. The stickbaits I have are the Jigstar Starwalker 180's. These are either 100 or 130 grams dependant on whether floating or sinking (I have both types to use)........Do you think this rod would suit please??? Ie would it be up to it? Am liking them due to the versatility   (as I also may chuck a popper around) and price....thoughts???

I've cast 100g star walker on mine sweet as but had a 130g and it felt too heavy. I'd stick probably between 60-110g

catching kings on low end stickbaiting setups is pretty fun and your stoked when you land a half decent one but when that fish of a lifetime piles on your lure and takes you straight to the bottom and your left standing there wondering what if,its the worst feeling and they don't come along everyday it's hard enough getting them on top end gear u still need some luck,if your topwater fishing in nz minus harbours and inner hauraki gulf bite the bullet and get the good gear Places like white u never know what Could turn up gd luck looking forward to your report can't wait to fish there
