This may have been covered before but does anyone use windon leaders for casting stickbaits/poppers. Does the join cast ok through the rod guides.
If not what knot (other than the PR knot ) are you using to join the leader to the braid.

Loop to loop for windons cast great, if you to use a knot the best for casting seems to be the FG knot or a small (as in short)PR knot

I use a twisted leader connected by a catspaw to a short bimini for heavy popper fishing & am still trying to master the FG knot for stickbaiting.

The join will pass through the guides perfectly fine.
One thing to consider is if ya going to use a double make it as short as possible as in really short, then cats paw it to the wind on leader. The rationale for a really short double is that as it leaves ya spool  it is easy for the loop to throw over the striper guide as opposed to through it, resulting in tears, snaped line lost lures or worst case scenario a  guide ripped off.
A short double is less inclined to billow out unevenly and wrap around the stripper guide

Been using a knot I found on youtube a few years back - think called a Tony Pena knot on there but seen it under other names too.

Easy as to tie and casts well. Caught alot of kings off the rocks using it without ever having any issues.

I use this knot for surfcasting & straylining off the bricks too

Ahh yeah thats it and also known as the Bob Sands (I think). I use for for PE5 braid joining to 100lb mono and dont use any doubles or anything. Found it really good and so easy to tie.
