karekare is a top spot especially if you own a surf board and don't mind a short paddle to the islandLOL just make sure when you jump in the rip you paddle left and don't get pulled round the front of the islandOuch...and on the bigger tides if you paddle at high tide when it's time to leave...at Low tide... you can just about step of onto dry sand.

Piha would be my pick thoughClap

Ive never tried Duckdiving under a wave while carrying all my fishing tackle and rods Torcea
You must tell us your secret on how its done especially when the surf is pumping

Pretty easy reallyConfused...
I guess if you have to take your whole tackle box then it can't be done, but If only take some pre tied rigs etc then it's a breeze.
Bag up your reel and all your gear and add to a small pack on your back...Attach your rod to your board using the leg rope...OOH yeah don't fish that spot when the swell is pumpingLOL
Simple aye.......The Island rocks in the summer when there's NO surf and an Easterly breeze.....Ask the LocalsWinkand don't fish the Island by yourselfDead
