It will catch fish but it wont be fun to use, small rods catch big fish up to a point but say a soft bait rod in 300mwont cut it. If you are fishing for kings and hapuku and stuff like that you will need that 24kg setup, You can catch those fish on light gear too but the odds are generally in the fish' favour. If you are say fishing for trevally in 5m you will find the heavy gear much harder to use. Many people use one set of gear for everything they do however and would generally have a 15kg rod with a big spin reel probably something like you have.

My take on the amount of rods ( and guns ) one has is that they are like golf clubs .......ones no #ucking good , ya needs a whole set 😁
