Agreed ....that is a feat that will not be repeated in the near future on a torium 20,those fish "usually " destroy reels like that and i say this from the 50 odd trips ive done to white chasing kingies..amazing capture indeed

Everyone would have to agree with you - even though  the Torium is a good quality reel, that is an outstanding capture on the size 20.

There is drag upgrades of course and I'm told that shimano are doing kits with a new side plate, drag washers etc etc and you wont loose your warranty.

Chris sells the Carbontex drag washer upgrade kits.
Not sure about the factory Shimano warranty using these drags kits?
Best check with ChrisW.
Haven't heard about any Shimano drag upgrade kits for the toriums?? Anyone else know about these?

The factory upgrades are apparently pretty expensive. The Carbontex/Cal's drag plate is a better alternative. The Torium 16 & 20 use the same washers and plate as the Trinidad 16 & 20. I wouldn't worry about the warranty as they should still honour it if the failed part has nothing to do with the drag.  If not just order the part and fix it yourself - it's not rocket science and there's a few tutorials on the net on how to do it.
