ill kick off the bay - temps are high on the fishfinder temp gauges, a report from craig on r'n'r had temp at 19deg at cobra and were getting a regular 18-19deg at the pins, large upwellings on the trip top the pins are more and more common and the sea is blue -  sunfish, flying fish are more common, skippies, albies on the jigs, big slimy maccas also and well...large kingfish! still about

there are a group of right whales cruising about and we had them free jumping for a group of lucky anglers on the boat..along with a pod of pilot whales

there are alot of gannets diving randomly, jesus christs birds are prolific and so are the mutton ducks. albatrosses and mollyhawks indicating theres alot of surface bait so im sure it wont be long before we see a beakie popping up

theres XOS maccas in the bay if you want to troll some livies for a pre-seaon look - i know ill be doing a shakedown run now sanity is game rigged and ready for any action.

get out there!

Tobez and I shot out for a look today. Trolled up towards Red Merc from The pins north of the Aldies after putting a nice king on ice for dinner.  Worked the 400m line and water up to ~21 degrees and reasonable colour.  We came in a bit as we neared the middle ground and just after midday had a nice (we both called it for a blue) take the long corner, pop it's head up and give a good windscreen wipers exhibition before it fell off - bugger!  Plenty of sunfish out there but not a lot of bait.  Ran into one school of alberts in a similar area to where we hooked the marlin.  Good to know they're there!

It ate this lure:

Grunta, you know, you're not supposed to release the fish until you have actually got them to the boat, eh....

certainly has the feeling things are about to go off.  best water of the year today and a mean current pushing in.  20kg yellowfin was caught at the hook today and weighed into whiti, mahimahi and marlin sighted jumping round the aldie pins today, some big work ups sighted outside the pins in 500m.
