NZACA CASTING RULES
  1. Casting: Shall be that part of the sport of casting - casting weights with double handed rods
 
  1. Methods of Casting: All casting shall be executed with both hands
 
  1. Rods: There shall be no restriction upon length or material of rod
 
  1. Guides: There shall be not less than three (3) guides plus tip ring on rods and the running line shall be threaded through each guide when casting.
 
  1. Reels: Any reel may be used, as long as it is possible to fish with that reel.
 
  1. Lines and Leader: They must be of general circular section and be of basic monofilament construction. The working leader (including tapered leaders) must conform to rule six b (6b)
 
6a.    Running line (mainline) to be a minimum of:
0.35mm - for 175gr and  200gr weights
 
0.31mm - for 150gr weights
 
0.28mm - for 125gr weights
 
0.25mm -  for 50gr, 75gr and 100gr weights
 
        6b. Casting  Leader  (Shock Leader):
                    To be high visibility/fluorescent with at least eight (8) turns
                   on the spool of the reel when ready to cast and minimum of
                             0.65mm for - 50gr, 75gr, 100gr & 125gr weights, or
                              0.75mm for - 150gr, 175gr & 200gr weights    
                                 at the point where the line is held by the caster at the reel.
                           (Whether this be the casters finger or some mechanical aid)
  
  1. Casting Weights: Only NZACA approved casting weights (as per 6a & 6b) to be used and will be provided by an NZACA approved supplier. NZ Competitions leader can be tied directly to the casting weight or attached via an approved clip. No excessive polishing of weights supplied at the tournament will be allowed. Only lead weights that are colour coded and marked with the casters initials and/or number will be permitted. A cast will be declared void unless these conditions are adhered to.
 
  1. Casting Court: A 30-degree ‘V’ shaped court extended as necessary. The metric radial system of court measuring from the centre of the base will be used in the case of records. Any court change will be at the discretion of the committee.
 
  1. Casting:
9.1  Casting shall be from behind a 2.5mt board set at 90 degrees to
the centre of the court. No competitor may pass this board whilst in the action of casting or until the lead weight has landed. The line must remain unbroken after the cast has been made until the weight has come to rest.
 
9.2   All casts shall be made without assistance. However the uses of devices such as the Robinson Autocasting Aid is acceptable
 
9.3  Replacement of tackle may be made providing this can be done within the given time limit.
       Five (5) minutes repair time will be allowed for each.
 
9.4   In making a cast it shall not be permitted to use a power stroke of more than 360 degrees or any cast that in the opinion of the committee is deemed dangerous.
 
9.5  Casts shall be recorded on a chart at the end of the casting lane   (where line and leads will be checked before casting) Break offs will be marked down and must be retrieved and reported back to a judge.
 
9.6    The Judge or Committee may use his/her discretion to allow a competitor extra time or casts if justified by outside interference or other mishaps beyond the casters control
 
  1.  Judging: Casting court judges shall first check diameter of running line and leader and that there are sufficient turns of leader on the spool (refer 6b). At the completion of the cast the running line shall again be measured. After first round of casting random checks will be made.
 
10a. In the event of a dispute the decision of the Judge or Committee shall be final.          
 
  1.  NZ Records: NZ Records can only be set at the three Regional sanctioned NZACA events and the NZACA Nationals. These events will all use electronic approved measuring equipment with the presence of at least two (2) officers or committee members who are not personally involved in the cast.
 
11a. Club and Postal records will be different than NZ Records. Clubs need to use NZACA approved weights and line as set out in Rule 6a. Clubs will need to have access to a micrometer
 
  1.  Membership: To be a current financial member of the NZACA
 
  1.  Entries: To be received by the specified date. The committee reserves the right to refuse entry
 
  1.  Rules: The above rules have been formulated using the UKSF International rules and combining elements of the NZACA casting rules. Rules can only be amended by the Executive of the NZACA.

So copolymer lines are out? Seriously mono is different to copolymer. Perhaps the  ruling should look to exclude braids rather than nylon lines

I take monofiliment as being a single strand line not braid .

Should make no difference being a copolymer or not,  Besides who is going to be able to tell ?
Look the same and feel the same .
A recent survey has revealed that only one in seven dwarfs are happy.
