Cheers Sam, yeh doing split body.... haven't got a lathe do drill the through wire accurately so I just start of with two lengths of ceder joined together with dowel to keep the two sides matched up throughout the shaping. I router out slots for the through wire. Drill a 10mm hole down the tail section before glueing, once glue is dry I pour the lead for tail weight then figure out much is needed in the belly.

Probably makes the job a lot longer but I like the fact that the lure is completely sealed and very strong given its got epoxy running through the middle of it. My tail section by design is very narrow and would probably snap quite easy with traditional construction.

I might do a step by step thread with the next lot, was in a bit of a hurry to get these finished.

They are 200mm long, might try make them a with less weight next time. Design goal for this lot was to make them swim easily so that they can be used in all conditions but yes they have got hooks on them in the video.

They sit a bit lower in the water than my cherry pie, but I can't swim the cherry pie in the pool.

I just did some more extensive testing at the panmure yacht club and I'm pretty disappointed with them

Not that easy to swim and action too lazy for my liking due to, to much tail weight. The action is better with no tail hook but I think those holes at the front is actually making them difficult to swim.

Causing to much roll, going to fill them with epoxy and see if that help.

Bugger guess you live and learn.

Lures should be fine, was in a bit of a s*&t yesterday. At the end of the day you don't really know what it is exactly a king looks for in a lure action so you just got to put them in the water and find out.

The cherry pie has a pretty lazy, rolly action and thats worked out for me all right.

Mean as Marx...... caught any fish on em yet? 

What gauge wire do you use, where do you get it?

Cheers mate unfortunately no topwater lures got smashed, not even the cherry pie. I just couldn't find the fish........... No surprises though really the coastline had nets all over it, reefs that normally guarantee boil ups were DEAD!

Tried out deep, had bait fish up to 25m but the kings were underneath so it was jigs only. Think I'll do some charters, let the pros find the fish so I can test my lures out proper.

Was intent on staying at Bach until I got some decent topwater sessions but a King I jigged up had other ideas.

Loading up a video now and will post in reports section, its as painful as it is funny.
