Hi guys for those keen on what Konishi has been doing in new zealand over the past month here is the link to his website with soem of the trip reports.
 
 
 
This is from both White Island (Silverado charter) and Tauranga(Extreme sportfishing)

As above - just a question though is why do some/most of these guys seem to cast right handed and all the reels seem to be left handed Confused... and also how much for are you looking at for those bendy high stick rods...

The theory is you can then fight the fish with your strong arm(right handed) and use your left arm(weaker arm) to wind with......If you stick with it long enough you get used to it apparently but its not a problem if you have a strong left armLOL
If you have a weak left arm...add more to the left barbell!  Not my cup of tea mate(that way around) but each to his own.Wink

Working stick baits benefits from having precise rod control. If you are right handed you'll have more control of the rod if holding it with your right hand.

Left hand winding is easy to pick up and well worth it.

Carpenter rods are typically around $1500..... had a play with one at yeehaa and daaaammmmmm, primo! If you are like me, budget restricted then you can get a Shimano Pencil Instrument for around $600, has worked well for me

I went to the Seminar at Yeeha Fishing and it was fascinating. It is a real art and the carpenter stickbaits certainly looked impressive
I find it a bit easier on an overhead reel (hard to teach an old dog new tricks) and i have therefore put my saragosa 8000 and tcurve up for sale as i am not using it.  more information here http://www.fishing.net.nz/asp_forums/topic62850_post896630.html#896630
