Saw this simple pattern in Fly Anger and it just looked so easy.

Hook: SL12S 2 - 4/0
Wing: Super hair, dark over light
Thread: flat white
Eyes: what ever floats your boat
Head: light epoxy

Sorry that photos are shadey, photag I'm not!!!

The idea is to trim the underside of fly on angle from tail towards hook point, this keeps the fly free from wraps.

You've been busy :)

It is a good fly Nick, I use something very similar here outside the harbor... they do not work as well on harbour Kingfish for some reason, but outside over the reefs they are deadly.

Swam a 4/0 smoke over white in the Rangi Channel yesterday while waiting for snaps on the bait rod. Observations:

1) fly fishing is much more fun than bait fishing ("Wow!" I hear you cry, "The guy's a genius!!!")
2) kahawai and mackeral love the Eat Me fly
3) I hate Easterlies when fishing the East Coast ("Wow!" I hear you cry, "The guy's a genius!!!")...........

Do you have any problems with the wing wrapping around the hook?
If you do, a bit of epoxy would turn them into Surf Candies and solve the problem.
Nice simple looking fly though.

Hey Dan, beauty of this fly is that the super hair is quite stiff and not all that prone to wrapping, plus the underwing is cut at a taper from tail towards hook point to support the wing. Hope santa was kind to your little one.

Thanks Nick.
Might tie some up a bit smaller. They would be a great fly for our rivermouth searuns and kahawai down here.
Yep, little one got spoilt. Especially since he is the first grandchild on my wifes side.
Hope you and yours had a great one too.
Dan
