I've been giving this some thought and think you're on the right track about making the leader longer. I know Jimi uses about 15 metres of leader and I haven't yet see him get cut off at the PR knot. It's possible that this knot makes a fair bit of turbulence under water and that's what attracts the snakes. Once again, our benevolent Jigging Master, Jimi, uses a lot shorter PR knot than most of us use and this, naturally, would create less turbulence. The more I fish with Jimi the more I realise that we are lucky to have him share his fishing genius and experience freely with us.

 

If using multi coloured braid then making sure that no white or yellow sections are used when tying the PR knot reduces the risk. I lost a brand new Sanme jig on it's first drop at the 3 Kings to a snake that hit my PR knot right on a small white section of spliced braid.

 

 

 

I lost a coupple of jig's last weekend , im pretty sure the kuta were hitting the dacron on my wind on leaders, maybe i will have to learn the PR knot.
