I am the proud owner of a Stradic 4000fh. I plan to spool it with 8 kg test braid (Fin braid or the like) and use it for chasing Tope and Blue Sharks under IGFA rules. Capacity won't be an issue with over 350 metres of the stuff on there. I love being able to go lightweight with braid theese days but will the reel handle a 20kg shark? Your experiences and thoughts please.

a reeel is only as good as its drag in your case...beef up the drag
 
gumboots you can catch with your hands why use a rod and reel??

These guys have them $100 off at the moment, are they stronger than a spheros?I'm looking for something to cast poppers with.

Ok the next thing, just what can I expect to land with the Stradic4000fh and still have the reel intact. I'm asking cause the reel is so damn small. Could I conceivably spool up with 10kg test braid (I'll get 250metres on) and throw poppers at 30lb kings, then still have a reel at the end of it? Love the small stuff braid allows us to fish, but really am worried about the staying power. Max drag on the reel is 18lbs, does that mean thats the max lineweight or max setting (drag set at 1/3 line weight?????) so much uncertainty and trepidation, don't want to blow up a $300 reel.

As for the Stradic - it can handle six or seven kingies in one sesion up to 15kg so 20kg sharks are not a problem.

KJ, they're up to fast fish such as kingies by the dozen so sharks won't be an issue. The only problem that I forsee is that they arn't ideal for lifting 20 - 50kg slow lumps of lead from down below.
 
Other than that - fill yer boots, they're a great reel.
