Has anyone tried to remove the clear coat over a paint job on an alloy bloat?

After 15 years (not bad I reckon) the clear coat applied over the paint has started to peel away on the external areas more exposed to the sun, leaving it looking blotchy and the areas of exposed paint have oxidised.  UGLY but it still floats and catches fish Wink

I'm keen to remove the rest of the clear coat and then attack the paint to try polish it up and get a cleaner and more consistent looking finish on the paint, as an interim fix to get it looking better before having it repainted (or maybe just another clear coat if the paint comes up ok).

Haven't tried anything yet but wondered if there was a recommended product or method to do this?

Cheers

If its Nyalic this is what they recomended.

This can be done easily with Sea 2 Sky SPC 202 Coating remover  from Resene.
A water based stripper that is rolled on left to soften the Nyalic and then water jetted off see. Once the coating is removed you have options on remedying any scratches by sanding  and or acid washing and then over coating again with Nyalic.

Is it a paint on clear or self adhesive clear vinyl?
