Yea iv used and made them a fair bit. Advantages are they turn over heavy flys well. Disadvantages are that they have a fair bit of stretch in them (due to the way they are made) and if you catch a fly on a tree then try to pull it out, and it pops out under load you often end up with a huge twisted mess.

 

Can be great when in the salt when chasing large aggressive predators as they can turn over those big bulky flys and their stretchiness gives you a bit of an advantage on the fast takes of big preditory fish (less chance of poping the tippet).

Thanks for the info, sounded like there is not a lot of experience with these out there, so did a bit more Internet digging in the early hours this morning. Fraser, sounds like you are right about turning over the bigger and heavier flys. Interesting what you say about the stretch in them, I figure the amount of stretch must be due to the material that is used to make them, so I guess if you use a material with little stretch, ie. fluorocarbon, you should get a leader with the same properties? I will look into this further!!! Couldn't get your link to work???
