Just saw this.

Now what rod do I need to go with it!

You can get 440 yards of 100# Braid on this reel. Amazing capacity and it is waterproof with Daiwa's Mag Seal.  Max Drag 66.0 lb and weighs 29.7 ounces.

Due out in USA in September.  $1399US

Just dreaming and getting my keyboard covered in drool for now. One day would love to have one. I would be thinking for Stick Faced Fish with that kind of line capacity, must be near 600m of 36KG daiwa tournament braid.

Just thought i would share what i saw.

YeeHaa - Do you know of any plans for it to be released in NZ?

for that sort of coin you would hope you would get a top of the line product out of the box, not something you would have to change before its any good,
 STELLA'S, only way to go

At the end of the day u get what u pay for, some people are shimano supporters and some are daiwa, what ever one u like is ur own choice, but I like this reel!my old dogfight was the same design for over 10 years, that's a good thing,so can only put the cash down on this one and see if it can do it again!I think the 6500zh underdog punched well above its weight!

I am currently looking into purchasing either a Stella or Dog fight, however my knowledge is rather thin on the Dog fights. What i do know is i like the size of the Stella 10k. So what size does the 6500 and 7000 compare to in size terms to the Stellas? I am mainly after topwater use for this was thinking for way down deep but as we have all our JM gear for that there is no reason for us to start using Egg Beaters as well (meaning the 18k and 20k Stellas).

Just curious here...are you saying the stellas are sticky drags straight out the box? Most sticky drags i have come across happen over time as the washers wear out or dry out....The washers on my sw 10,000 didnt get sticky but i have heard a stella 10,000 when they do and they dont sound nice....I have also heard that the stella washers are not up to standard but that was an issue with the ocea jiggers too....Once you put some quality washers on board= problem solved(that is what i have just done with my worn out stella washers) but i agree...They should be good in the first place...especially for a grand + reel...Some better quality carbon washers(heavy duty)...something shimano should sort out right now.

Looking at the capacity quoted earlier in the thread this would put the 7000 in between the 18K and 20K size... On a 20K you will fit 475 yards of JB Hollow 100# and on a 18K you can fit 425 yards, on the 20K Max you will fit 550 yards. (Remember JB 60# can test at 95# so if you want more capacity this could be an option)

So basically if i want a dog fight i am either looking at the old 6500 which is around the size of the stella 18k or the next dog fight coming out which is obviously the 7000 and not quite as big as the 20k? So as i am wanting a 10k sized stella then i am basically stuck with the Stella? For me i dont mind going either way as they are both great pieces of tolls.

I think you are misunderstooddood LOL... Ben meant the sticky drags on the Daiwa.

Do you really think Shimano would use "washers are not up to standard" kit in their flagship model? This kind of "I heard" information is rubbish, Shimano has their drag sorted on the Stella period, service the reel accordingly and you have the best reel on the market.

I think you will enjoy being stuck with the 10K Approve The 10K is a nice "fit" for casting all day, and more than capable.

The only change I have made to the 10K is to remove the bail trip, hopefully the next generation 10K is manual trip only.

you are right Sam, i did mean that the Dogfight has a sticky drag.
I am speaking from a charter captain's point of view when talking about reels, the reason I like stella's is because they are bang on straight out to the box and when I fished with the Nomad Ozzy guys seeing them giving their stella's the work out day in day out, it was a no brainer to go with them.
KS in my opinion if you are looking to just use a reel for top water, a 10k stella is the only way to go, dont get caught up in the hype around drag and spool capacity as a 10k has tones of drag and at the end of the day as long as you have 200 to 230m of main line you are good to go, plus going with a 10k they are smaller and less bulky to use, so all in all that is why I have six of them.

What a load of crap this thread has turned into, someone posts about a new product in the market which people may be interested in and all of a sudden it's hijacked and turned into a Stella ad.

in a word "Yes"...i bought a second hand stella and found one of the washers was split....No doubt the previous owner had abused it some what but i have since bought washers from the states that are far better quality. The old washers were thin and easily broken...very happy with what i have now.Suprised that Diawa have sticky dragsLOL
