2 turns on the reel as well but use a FG knot as it casts far better then a PR, i use 150lb leader but not fluro as it is to hard for the knot to get a good bite
Same deal for me re length but using a knot I found on youtube a few years back called Tony Pena knot but am sure it goes by other names. Very good knot. No issues to date.
Also not using fluro, good old mono leader is sweet by me

*fisher* wrote:Sweet looking reel.... ya gonna load it up with 50 pound... I'm into jigging and haven't got into popping but would like to give it a whirl but dont really wanna spend the bucks up front.. got a new baitrunner 8000D to use which are sposed to be braid friendly and I can use it for straylining out the back of my boat or use my 10 footer with it off the beach... like to cover my bases

Kenshin wrote:ok.. seems to be around the 3m mark? Yeah.. flouro. I find the BM supples are good. PR knot for me. I manage to learn how to tie a neat short one. |
xsspeed wrote:I use roughly a rod and a half plus a wrap or two, and vary how the popper hangs depending on how I want to cast. Also using black magic supple. I use the slim beauty knot which is basically identical (if not the same knot) as the Tony Pena that JK mentioned. |
fish i wrote:Looks sweet Ariel. I've found some quite soft thin fluoro in 80lb and seems to cast sweet, finding it hard to give up my fluoro addiction, especially over fairly shallow foul. Got a stickbait for you to try bro, it's too heavy for my rod. Did you end up getting that Van Stahl? |
