Each month the Coastgaurd Hibiscus has an article in one of the Hibiscus Coast local magazines "The Coasties Magazine".

I drew the short straw and wrote the piece for this month ... (flick over to page 32-33)

That's a good read Tony. I have been towed twice by Coastguard. My 3rd trip out on my first boat on it's 3rd trip out. In those days I wasn't a Coastguard member. That was in 1997. I joined Coastguard after that and about a year ago my motor had enough and died about 5km from home. 
I put a call through - there were no other boats out there and it just so happened CG were already on their way to another incident. They stopped by us on their way out ( I knew 3 of them, yikes) so we fished there for nothing :) and they took us back on their return.

It's a great thing you do. Thank you.

Our coast guard has just recently got a new club house and a new rib ..........spose Id better join up 🙂
I wish I was young again .... Id be heaps smarter than this time

Thanks Smudge - it's very rewarding generally and I've learnt a lot and had to "unlearn" some things so I do stuff "the Coastguard way" when on the Coastguard vessels - that's important as if we move stations round the boat the next person knows how things have been done ... even to the point of how lines are tied to other vessels or even how they are stored when not in use.

I see Riverton have got a new 10m Naiad - that would be an excellent boat. 

We (Hibiscus) have a 9.5m Naiad that's been in service for more than 13 years (maybe over 14?) and it's still going strong. It's had multiple engines over the years and 2 major refits as well as a few minor ones. Hibiscus Rescue 1 was back in the water late April 2024 after a complete refit and the new motors have already got over 700 hours on them now.  She will likely have one more set of motors on her before she is finally retired from service.

Rib   Naiad whatev 😁it was orange and I missed the drive by.
32' is a decent boat , I didnt see what sort of donkey it has......ha ha. .hope I never do.

I wish I was young again .... Id be heaps smarter than this time
