Parked up in caravan at inlaws for another week , now all the family Xmas duties out the way was hoping to get a bend in the fly rod.
Went for a drive to the 2nd bridge past totata reserve yesterday , Pohongina river. The lower part of river very discoloured , however cleared at the former spot upstream. Did not fish , more a family trip. The spot x book says a good days fishing upstream from the bridge, as we have hadore rain last night probably more colour.
As my spot x book about 5 year old might be out of date . Did not see any fish.
Also had a look at the confluence where the pohongina enters manawatu , water colour of the pohongina very coloured whereas the manawatu relatively clear.
Another option that looks viable in book is upper manawatu between woodville and danevirk . Prefer smaller stream stuff but guess can't be to picky .
Any advise appreciated, will be fishing on my own which I don't mind but if anybody keen to join us for bit of a look no worries?
