I preferred to stick it on top of the gas BBQ. Less shagging about, more temperature control and no worries about the meths running out before you were done.

Worked ok but did tend to burn all the "seasoning" off the BBQ grill so went on to get a dedicated gas ring (cheap as chips off trade me) but the BBQ was ok for a few years.

Same here Dagwood...found the BBQ worked really well (it was a 20 year old spare one I had after updating) and I just took the plates off with the box fitting in perfectly.Big smile

Meths works fine Rotate as smudge said. Most people will use that for heat as did I with no issues before the BBQ and my later incarnation a charcoal cabinet one with a gas ring added later for more control around temp.

its just the one from warehouse, that is what they state on box "white spirits".i thought that may have meant mineral spirits.

From the Warehouse - probably got the Chinese translation of meths wrong. Sounds pretty dodgy. Wonder how many people will get hurt.

i tried doing it on the bbq but found the meths method better. one bowl of meths and the fish is perfect, could get my timing/ heat on the bbq right.

Forget the meths, do it on the BBQ! Thumbs Up
I do not lie about fishing, I willingly participate in a campaign of misinformation.
