In my defence fellas and felleses:

1. It was a fund raising event for camp Hohepa.
2. I was not the only competitor.
3. Surly a greater crime would have been loosing face in front of my son and other children by not competing.
4. The said pillies had only been sitting in the sun for one day, (actually they were barley defrosted and quite firm. The worst part was getting all those little scales stuck between your teeth).
5. It was regional TV not national.
6. We did win! (if your going to something questionable you might as well be good at it).
7. We were never going to win the fishing part of the contest, local proved its worth.
8. The prises (a rod and reel each), were donated back for the next lucky winner (poor basstodd).

Hahahaha....Ski rang me after he saw it to tell me about it.

NEXT time you take me out Ohsif I will bring some extra pillies for your lunch

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

We'll get the Brickie to come up with a special pillie cocktail for you Oshif you bad bad man. Or were you thinking of something else with your nose that close to some pilchards?

Nobody has ever come up with a great idea after a second bottle of water.

No worries Phatty, I'll be sure to reciprocate and it wont be sardine sammies.

Thanks Bender, just make sure its that Canadian variety. You know its wise not to breathe and swallow at the same time.

No practice Keith. Didn't even know what the task was until we were given the instructions. I figured to be competitive one at a time was not going to cut it and I think I managed three on at least one trip.

Oshif you should be careful. Sometimes people put things called hooks in pilchards...

The Brickhouse Canadian Pillie Pie with Brasilian side salad. Hmmmmm. Sounds like a decent balanced meal. References to the swallow (UN International Bird of Love) should not be passing your lips Oshsif. F.T.

Of all the reasons for coming home drunk with fishy breath and things stuck between your teeth that is undoubtably the best.  Nice effort Ohsif!

There is another nomination for this fine and much loved award.

I shall set the scene: - 1: the large flying gaff, left lying in the side pocket of the boat, point resting inwards against the inside of the hull.

2: Wave causes flying gaff to tip outwards, so the razor sharp half inch diameter steel is now lying outwards into the cockpit.

3: Half crazed and hungover piglet, lunging backwards in the boat, connects with gaff, leaving it impaled on his leg.

4: Ouch, ouch, ouch he said. Ouch. Poos and wees that smarts, he said. Ouch again.

5: Pd Squid, wetting himself laughing at this fine spectacle.

6: Toilet seat nomination ... have to be wouldn't it?

You have until Thursday to decide : a fisherman eating pilchards without checking whether there was a hook inside first ...  or a piglet who gaffs himself?

Nobody has ever come up with a great idea after a second bottle of water.
