We fish shelly beach every 3-4 months whilst i am up there bagging some fallow,we walk out to the end of the wharf, turn left and cast back towards the shore. That where i catch the most gurnard. Small cubed pieces Mullet or bonito on a 4/0 mutsu hook, the oilier the better. From early incoming tide and i always have a few rods out.Big baits or different baits get rays or other crap you dont want. I learnt all this from watching a *****.
