smaller reels usually have less drag and less line capacity but when matched with a rod they can be a great tool for working lures/softbaits and playing the fish but this takes more skill then skull dragging a fish in with tons of drag on 80lb braid.

think about what fish your going to be targeting and which style you want to do it.

you can always buy multiple reels/rods, dont rule out >4000 size either i use my shimano 8000oc with 20lb braid for softbaiting on the kayak and it works just fine :)

That is quite a statement to make on here. Why get different sized spinning reels? Well it come down to fish targeted and your type of fishing. A 4 piece 2-4lb river rod with a Stradic C14 1000 on ain't going to be much use in a work up in the gulf with a possible chance of a Kingfish. That is when you want at least a 2500-5000 sized reel. Or you might want say a 20000 sized Stella for jigging or a baitrunner for livebaiting/straylining.

Also factor in bust offs, if you want to fish one rod only and you get busted you have to re rig again, when having a second set gets you back in the fish quickly.

You can never have enough fishing gear!

+1 on that........I regret to say that due to family illness and having my boat out of the water for an anchor winch install, it has been a few months since I went out.
Checking my gear, found an Okuma Solterra setup I forgot I'd bought! Impulse purchase as a left hand lever drag reel, needs to get some salt spray and a bend in the rod.

a 4000 size spin reel is a good all round choice. It will handle most fish you will encounter. If you are fishing for say kahawai or snapper it will usually handle them. It is important to match reels, rods and line with the areas you wish to fish and the fish you wish to target. I have caught many big snapper etc on reels that size. It wont be the weapon of choice for very big fish in foul ground. Then you will need something tougher but unless you're fishing those areas you don't need any more fire power. Of course if you can afford it, get a bigger one too!

Basically, you have different sized reels for different size target fish and tackle. A small lure does not cast easily on heavy line, so if you have, say, 20lb braid line, you will not be able to use very small lures for small fish.
Basically reels are fishermens tools, so it is like builders and hammers....a big sledge hammer will hit in any nail, but you really do not want to use a sledge hammer to put a tack in the wall to hang a picture frame, eh 😊

Agree with all of the above, but if you are skint or looking for minimal set ups. I suggest looking into buying spare spools for said reels so you have variety of line weights

Rather trying to get a reel as a compromise, decide on one use and one target that you are most likely to use it for. Softbaiting= 2500 to 3000 reel with 6-8lb braid. This can also be used for bottom bashing and Straylining. Put on a 15-20lb leader and you will land most in the gulf
I would start with a softbait set up then add tackle as you need

I have to say that I came out very confused but I blame only myself for that.

I will say that I am only a beginner who wants to go fishing with experienced friend. And I want to come with a decent setup.

I have purchased a Stradic CI4+ 3000 reel yesterday and now I am looking for a rod to match it with.

something for saltwater to go fishing in the sea.

That's a very nice reel. you would want to match that with a softbait rod made for a spin reel. A shop like WS Laurie will give you good advice. Just for future reference you can often get a good deal on a combo set, it is usually cheaper than buying them separate. It is a great reel though, just bought one myself.

Nice reel, make sure you learn how to do the basic cleaning and maintenance mate and look after it!

Will last you for a very long time if you can do that properly.

Is there a good light weight rod that you suggest me to go with it.

I am trying to find a rod (2 pcs) that its lure weight goes between 3/16 - 1 oz.

I want to use this setup in 2 different places (sea and lake).

I saw the rod, but I don't want a 1 piece rod. it will be hard for me to take it with me.
