Those small red or blue ones was probably the nymph
that i caught most fish on down your way. Great flies that
also hold up good. Glad you liked.

Yes P-A, the fly looks like it would be a great fish catcher, bright but nicely formed - what is the largest and the smallest you have tied? The recipe says from 8 - 20 I know, but on the bigger ones is the copper the same size or bigger? And is that a 2x short or a 2x long hook?

Thanks P-A

Hi Jeanne
The largest i tie is on streamer hooks (2 x long and 2 x heavy) size 8-10 but those i tie
with a real thick copper wire and with a 4mm tungsten bead. The smallest i have tied
is on size 22 nymph  hooks(2x strong and 2 x long if i can find them) with 1,5mm tungsten beads and Ultrawire in Blue or Black shades. The smallest ones are my favourites actually i have got fish up to 7 pounds
on those without the hook being warped or drawn out at all.' I hope this cleared it up some
for you.
Regards
P-A

Thanks P-A, I have been going through my copper wire and found some thicker stuff as well as the micro thin.

Don't think I have the eyesight for a size 22 - but will give it a go if I can find the smaller sizes. Sounds like a stronger pair of hobby glasses is in store -- at the moment I am using a 4.00+ strength, I'll look in the craft store and see if they go any higher.

Does it have to be a Tungsten bead? They are pretty expensive aren't they? I have seen them but have found the price for around 5 or so is getting into around the $10 - $12 dollar mark. Can the person who uses them just use a split shot maybe??

But if that's what is needed I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay for the beads.

Hi Jeanne
Lead is almost as heavy as Tungsten but the pollution factor
makes me not use that at all these days. Try them on size 16 hooks
then 2 mm beads works fine, and if want add some extra lead thread
under the thorax before the dubbing then maybe brass beads will be enough.
Here 20 beads are around 10 bucks if you have some the connections so if you send me you adress i"ll send some to you Jeanne. But the small stuff is really hard to get
so i will send 2 mm and 3mm.
Regards
P-A

P-A,

I got an email that you had written a PM to me, but logging on to the website it was not there or the message you wrote to me on the board. What do I do to get it - do you know? my inbox says it's empty.

Thanks so very much P-A, if you ever need something and I have it I will send it to you.

I was looking at some Copper John's last night that were tied with white coloured wire and also, green, blue, red and black wire ones as well as the copper. they were just so nicely tied, I think I have a new found respect for you guys who can tie them so neatly. The green you have tied, looks like chartruose almost fluroscent in nature. I looks just so darn nice!
