Hi. I have a shimano backbone elite popper rod which is 2 piece, joins at the top of the foregrip.I haven't used it yet and when I put it together I haven't got it quite perfectly lined up, but now N can't pull it apart to have another go at it. Part of the problem is the slick surface of the rod makes it hard to grip, I don't want to use the guide to twist the pieces apart in case I break something.

Any ideas? It was fairly tight when I put it together but not unusually so.

I don't mind if it stays as one piece forever as long as it is lined up right, it is only 7'6" which is the same as my softbait rods.

Most stationers sell a cheap product which goes on the dashboard of a car to sit your cell phone on withit sliding away.

get two old game lure skirts, wrap one each end of the rod, and get one person to twist one way and you twist the other way, the lure skirts grip like shet on a wall.. and will undo it no problem. :)

You mean carbon, there is no lead in pencils. but it works real well :) 

Guys - the male section is a plug- the end will more than likely not be sealed- it will soak up mositure and swell if you coat the end of the plug with nail polish hardener or epoxy it will seal it- also the pencil does work - dont use sand paper on the carbon to easy the join, use vasaline and 1000 grit steel wool only or you will end up with flat spots on the plug which creates a weak point in the join -snap -crackle- pop

The rubber side of rod wraps grip really ell too..
