This has been a great read.  I admire your thoroughness and attention to detail.
You need a sheep, goat or lawn mower Wink

Probably hit it with a weed eater or a digger before I try mowing that.

This is what I know about building boats:  never, ever buy a goat.

Nice work OWT Thumbs Up

Dragged it around the house with a digger, and managed  to get it on the trailer. It will be sitting outside on a gravel pad, under a cover. Cover will be a generic oceansouth to start with. If it doesn’t last I’ll spend some coin and get a custom made or build a little boatport.

According to my torques on the jockey wheel calculations it’s 420kg for the bare hull. I’ll confirm with a scale at some stage but I have to fit and adjust the trailer first. Heavier than the plans, but I used Meranti ply, extra glass, some options and the extra weight will help the ride some. The 4.9m glass runabout was 460kg and was a significantly smaller boat. Expecting a BMT weight of about 850kg dry, which is about the same as a Haines 485. Good for a 5.3m boat.

Been a long time coming but finally got it wet. Boat sat fine and handled at slow slows well, but the etec needs a service and throttle cable needs adjusting as it started in a fast idle and wouldn’t leave SAFE mode. At least I know that the auxiliary works ok! Merchatsu 4hp four stroke pushed us back to the ramp ok.

I’m not overly surprised or worried by the outboard issues. I needed to tear the throttle box apart to get it out of the donor boat, and the outboard has basically sat for three years.

The boat launched ok, is stable and seems a stable dry ride. Will give a full performance report as soon as I get some performance!

Sits right on her lines. Sole is just above water level, you can tell by the side drain holes. Load was 130kg of teenagers, outboard, aux, two agm batteries, 20L fuel and odds and ends. Calculate a hull weight of a bit more than 400kg. The total displacement with sole just on waterline is 700kg.
