catches picking up

DEEPWATER

The trench has starting producing some good bass and blunose lately, puka (mainly small have been caught in good numbers at hell and off turakerei.  We got a nice stash of puka off ohau on saturday. The harbour entrance has been good for gurnard of late.

SHORE

Surfcasters have been getting into spotty sharks in palliser bay and some nice gurnard off Miramar wharf. Castlepoint, White Rock, Otahome are all good spots which produce this time of the year. 

THE SOUNDS

The Marlborough Sounds has been great for scallops, big blue cod and school puka, as well as tarakihi.

HARBOUR

Red cod have been abundant everywhere with good tarakihi off falcons shaol, the wreck  and ward island. A few snapper and warehou have been caught off queens wharf. gurnard fishing is picking up off miramar

BLUEFIN

From all reports it seeming that the southerns and northerns were bigger and more abundant than last year out from westport. Things have finally quietened down now after a busy month. fish caught up to 400kgs (northerns)
