If your winch handles are getting a bit scruffy and perished here is an easy way to repair them.
Obtain some heavy duty heat shrink tubing from a tame sparky or electrical wholesaler, and using a hot air gun or soft flame apply it to your winch handles. The tubing shrinks to fit and has a heat activated epoxy adhesive on the inner surface which makes a permanent durable repair for many items such as gaffs and fishing rod grips.
Tip: Test first on a piece of scrap wood to judge the correct amount of heat to apply and ensure that the tubing will shrink to fit your application.
