Rigs - DIY crimps

Telephone wire is an extremely useful material for us fisho's. To make your own rig crimps get a baiting needle or some straight thin wire the same gauge that they use on sinker grip wires is ideal.

Now wrap the telephone wire around the baiting needle in tight close fitting coils to form a sort of compressed spring a few inches long and slide it off the baiting needle, don't make them any longer because they become difficult to remove.

Cut them into 1cm lengths and use them with beads to trap swivels etc when rig-making, just slide onto the line, position them, then gripping "the crimp" between the thumb and forefinger of each hand twist them in opposite directions to lock them on the line.You can even use different colour telephone wire to colour-code your rigs for easy selection.
