Barracouta - how to avoid them

There’s heaps of barracouta (snakes) around in winter and it can be hard to get your baits to the bottom without getting nailed on the way down. Try wrapping your bait in wet newspaper before you put it down. Once on the bottom give it a shake and most of the paper will fall off and expose the succulent baits for those XOS-sized snapper that are about at this time of year….  (courtesy of Terry King)
