Bait that doesn't need freezing

So you are sick of spending cash on bait?  All you need is some of those jack mackerel. piper or kahawai you caught from your last time fishing.  Cut your kahawai into strip size you prefer and keep the small fish whole.

In a coolish place out of the sun get a sheet of corrugated iron or two and raise one end. At the other use some old roof guttering to catch juices.  Get a bucket with a kg of uniodised salt and add your bait.  Put lid on and shake until well mixed.  Remove your salted baits and put on the raised corrugations of your iron.  Leave for 24-48hrs till they go rubbery.

Don't worry they don't smell much at all.  Add 250 mls tuna oil to your bucket and stir.  When bait is ready put in your bucket and put the lid on There you have it your own versatile bait that doesn't need freezing.
