Lethal, where did you get the information on Midway?  I went to the US Fish and Wildlife Service page and 2 others and they all say that Midway is still closed to fishing.  Just curious, I would like to go there some day.  Good reason to visit my old school friends in Hawaii while in route 

New Cal has some big GT's Head to the nor-eastern coast if you want untouched fishing. And MASSIVE doggies there too.

Fishing within the lagoon:

• Anglers may use pole and line, spin tackle and fly fishing gear only, and must release all fish alive.
• Only artificial lures with a single barbless hook are allowed.  Hooks may not be baited, but chum may be used.

I just read about an exploratory trip to Marquessa that JDM out of the states is putting together. very reasonable price but certainly exploratory and primitive.

Recently went to Farquhar in the Seychelles and did a few days popping ina ddition to fly fishing. Many fish but the water was so hot they didn't fight as well as I thought. Lots of 30 to 45 kg GTs wandering around the outer reef. The guys I fished with said Cosmoledo in the Seychelles is the best place on earth but right now it is controlled by Somalian pirates.

LPB in New caledonia is kaput... the guys who ran it left the biz.
