I was speaking to someone today who reckons that WD40 is an excellent fish attractant spray for sps? Apparently it is fish oil based or something like that.

This could be one of those urban myths but thought I would put the topic out there for comment....

Yeah we used to spray it on fish baits when I lived in the UK mainly when we were targeting dog-fish in competitions and it definitely seemed to make a difference.

If you want to try a cheap scent for SP's get some garlic infused olive oil, it is what they use in the USA on a lot of their SP's as it's non toxic and fish go nuts over it..... well all the Italian fish anyway.

LOL what next?

Maybe I could spray some on my jigs, that way they can stay rust proofed and attract fish at the same time cause unscented jigs don't work either LOL

its because of the kero same as the old lice trick if you are getting a lot of lice attacking yr BAIT (that smelly stuff before sps arrived) you put kero on it doesnt stop the snapps but the lice wont touch it.
blue and yellow can levicat same SORT OF PRODUCT  as crc556 but better
i just want to go fishing..........amd ignore all my adult problems

An old boy told me the same thing thing years ago back in england , this was his big secret weapon , good ol wd 40.
I must admit I tried it a few year back down in Kapiti , i used to keep my flasher rigs in plastic bags and spray them with wd40 but i never noticed any difference in catch rate.

I can remember years ago back fishing the west coast (Marakopa) the old man and pop used to soak liver in kero to use as bait before we got fresh stuff. This was in the handline days before solid glass rods came on the sean  As the old albums confirm, many a good old snapper fell to this method - burnt hands and bolts for sinkers!!!!!!!!!!!
