Does anyone know if there definitely are or if there is likely to be squid in the upper harbour in Aucks?
 
There are several areas of broken papa rock & weed also baitfish so would have thought squid might be there or are they more confined to the coastal areas?

Were abouts in the upper habour do u mean ?

Areas up by the Greenhithe inlet & in particular Pare wharf that have areas of papa rock & weed.
 
Anyway have decided will go & "test the water" one night to try establish if they are thereabouts or not.

I want to fish at the Upper Harbour but I'm still waiting for the whitebait run. I know it starts on Christmas but I'm not sure if it ends on April(that info is obtained from a local I talked to in Warkworth).
I want to catch pelagics such as kahawai at Hobsonville Point because they are drawn to the shoals or go Ajing at the jetty because I saw a school of jack mackerel and mullet once. Here's one I caught on my homemade lure:
