Hey guys, newbie first time poster here.

I need to buy a car before I buy my first boat this year and I'm hoping a mid rang SUV will do.  Has anyone had any experience with a 2.2L diesel SUV like a Mazda CX-5, Santa Fe, Kia Sorento or similar to tow a buccaneer 495 or similar.  Mainly be towing to my local boat ramp but once a year will tow from Auckland to Whitianga and back.

I’m not 100% sure I will buy a buccaneer but I will not be buying anything bigger than a 5m glass or tinnie because of parking at my house.

If you are only launching from ramp and towing on road and not going anywhere near a beach then you could get a 2WD?
Personally if any intention of beach launching would get a 4WD just in case?

What would all up weight of boat and trailer be?  Just check tow rating before buying some CVTs have low max tow weight ratings.

Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

We have a CX-5 2.2D, goes well, would have no issues at all towing a 5m glass boat. 2k tow rating.

Thanks for the feedback.  The CX-5 would be my first preference as its got great reviews and seems to be better value compared to the others.
